Carbonized Silicon Graphite Crucible Usage Guidelines

Graphite Lined Crucible

In order to ensure the proper and efficient use of carbonized silicon graphite crucibles, the following guidelines should be strictly adhered to:
Crucible Specification: The capacity of the crucible should be designated in kilograms (#/kg).

Moisture Prevention: Graphite crucibles should be protected from moisture. When storing, they must be placed in a dry area or on wooden racks.
Handling Precautions: During transportation, handle the crucibles with care, avoiding any rough handling or impacts that could damage the protective layer on the crucible surface. Rolling should also be avoided to prevent surface damage.

Preheating Procedure: Before use, preheat the crucible near the drying equipment or furnace. Gradually heat the crucible from low to high temperatures while continuously turning it to ensure even heating and eliminate any moisture trapped in the crucible. The preheating temperature should be raised gradually, starting from 100 to 400 degrees. From 400 to 700 degrees, the heating rate should be faster, and the temperature should be increased to at least 1000°C for at least 8 hours. This process removes any remaining moisture from the crucible, ensuring its stability during the melting process. (Improper preheating may lead to crucible peeling or cracking, and such issues will not be considered as quality problems and will not be eligible for replacement.)

Proper Placement: Crucibles should be positioned below the level of the furnace opening to avoid wear and tear on the crucible lip caused by the furnace cover.

Controlled Charging: While adding materials to the crucible, consider its capacity to avoid overloading, which may cause crucible expansion.
Correct Tools: Use appropriate tools and tongs that match the shape of the crucible. Grip the crucible around its middle section to prevent localized stress and damage.
Removing Residues: When removing slag and adhered substances from the crucible walls, gently tap the crucible to avoid any damages.
Proper Positioning: Maintain an appropriate distance between the crucible and the furnace walls, and ensure the crucible is placed at the center of the furnace.
Continuous Usage: Crucibles should be used in a continuous manner to maximize their high-performance capabilities.
Avoid Excessive Additives: Using excessive combustion aids or additives may reduce the crucible's lifespan.
Regular Rotation: Rotate the crucible once a week during usage to prolong its lifespan.
Flame Avoidance: Prevent a strong oxidizing flame from directly impinging on the crucible's side and bottom.
By following these usage guidelines, users can optimize the performance and durability of carbonized silicon graphite crucibles, ensuring successful and efficient melting processes.
