Graphite crucible: a key component in metal casting

 

Graphite crucible has become an important part of non-ferrous metal casting due to its unique natural flake graphite and binder components. This composition provides them with several advantages, including high thermal conductivity, resistance to high temperatures, good thermal stability, and lack of reaction with molten metal. However, they are easily oxidized in high-temperature, strongly oxidizing atmospheres, which can significantly shorten their service life. To alleviate this problem, some graphite crucibles are now equipped with multiple layers of glaze on their surface to enhance their corrosion resistance and prevent graphite from oxidizing.

Main features:

  1. High thermal conductivity: Using high thermal conductivity materials such as graphite to reduce melting time.
  2. Thermal shock resistance: It has strong thermal shock resistance and is not easy to break when heated or cooled rapidly.
  3. High temperature resistance: can withstand temperatures from 1200 to 1650°C.
  4. Corrosion resistance: It can resist the corrosion of molten metal.
  5. Mechanical impact resistance: It has a certain mechanical impact strength during metal pouring.
  6. Anti-oxidation: Treated to minimize oxidation, thereby minimizing oxidative consumption.
  7. Anti-adhesion: The non-adhesion properties of graphite reduce the penetration and adhesion of molten metal.
  8. Minimum metal contamination: Contains the least impurities, resulting in the least metal contamination.
  9. Slag resistance: It shows good resistance to the influence of slag and flux.

In addition, silicon carbide graphite crucibles add different amounts of silicon carbide particles to the raw materials, such as 50% or 24%, and can be customized according to customer requirements.
